Has anyone replaced a broken throttle arm on one of these Z-4000's? How difficult is it to do so?
Have one that I bought that got damaged in shipment and it's a shame because it's perfect otherwise.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Joe

It shouldn't be too hard. There are, I think, 6 screws on the bottom to take the top off, not symmetrically spaced.
Have you tried glueing it together? If solvent cement doesn't work, JB Weld should.

Have an image? Tenax (or it's new version) should weld that back together easily.
What is the new version of TENAX?

Styrene Tack-It by JMD Plastics or Same Stuff by Micro Mark
Thanks to all. Will get some of the Styrene tack it and give it a shot.

Is that handle really Styrene?
The screws in the base are hex, require a very long 3mm Allen wrench. Once inside, the handle is secured by removing the potentiometer. Which side do you need? I may have one. Be careful that you don't pinch the ribbon wire inside when reassembling.
Jon G,
I need the left side, Track #1, handle. If you do have one, please let me know. Thanks.
Gunrunner....Good question. I assumed that BobbyD had an issue with the handles and the recommended glue did the trick.
Joe
If the handles are ABS then solvent glue will work. If they are phenolic (AKA bakelite) then you will need epoxy. I don't think styrene would be durable enough.
I had to repair some cracks in the case and used CA but CA wouldn't be strong enough on its own if its a butt joint.

I think MTH uses ABS for the cars also.

I have a LH handle, less gear (it unscrews and transfers to the new handle.) You can reached me via the TCA directory.
Thanks Jon. I'll call tomorrow.
