Can Z-Stuff DZ-1000 switch controllers be used to throw Lionel, postwar, O22 remote control switches and have the DZ-1000 controller indicator lights work? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Randy Harrison, great Question, it would depend on the length of the throw, Ross and Gargraves seem to be great for DZ1000 switch machines. Also, a tortoise switch machine might be more compatible. I hope others will chime in with answers. Great thread. Happy Railroading
Larry:
Thanks for the quick reply. To clarify my question, I am asking if the DZ-1000, push-button switch controller can be wired to a Lionel 022 switch motor and operate the 022 switch motor?
Wow, I should have read your question better, that’s a good question and I wish I had a Lionel 022 switch to test, but I do not have any of the postwar track. Hopefully gunrunner John or other electronic fellows will chime in. Good luck in your search for an answer to this concept. At one time I had a lot of Lionel turnouts, but the controller was a plastic case with red and green bulbs with a metal lever going back and forth to engage the switch. The switch button to the DZ 1000 switch machine also has lights. So, it may work. Happy Railroading Everyone
It might be, but I suspect the tiny contacts on the DZ-1002 would fry. In addition, the LED's clearly wouldn't work, the O22C lamps are driven by a totally different voltage.
Larry:
We have a combination of Lionel, O22 , Gar Graves and Ross Switches. I am trying to do a diagrammed control panel and want to use the DZ-1000 controllers because they take up less space than the Lionel O22 controllers yet still have the position indicator lights.
John:
Thanks for the reply and reality check. I suspected that it would be too good to be true, but, I thought I would ask anyway.
I'd just use a SPDT return to center mini-switch and wire up some LED's with dropping resistors for the O22 switches.
John:
Can you share a wiring diagram of how to hook up the switch, LED's and resistors with an ohm rating on the resistors? Also, contact me at my E-Mail address hbcrandy@aol.com with a good, affordable place to buy the electronic parts. I say contact me by E-Mail in that such a source may not be one of the OGR Forum advertisers. Also, for consistency's sake on the control board, will the SPDT switches with LED's also work the Gar Graves and Ross switches?
Thank you.

As for Gargraves and Ross, we need to know the switch machines in use, that determines what kind of switch control you need.
I will use the DZ-1000 and would also like to use the SPDT momentary toggle with LED lights.
Thanks for your reply
I used to have a diagram of the DZ1002 switch controller, but I can't lay my hands on it now. There's not much in there but the switches and LED's. I think a resistor or two. You can certainly take one apart and draw a diagram, and I'm sure you can use the toggle switch and LED's to simulate it.
