gentlemen, I use Z4001's to get walk around control on my large conventional layout. They seem to lose connection to the Z4000's quite often. I noticed that if I get a text on my phone while in the basement it seems to happen. Could that even remotely be the actual issue? Would love to create a "No Cell Phone" policy but that seems extreme.

Well, the 900mhz that cell phones use is the same frequency as the DCS remote as the Z4001 remote system uses, so it's possible that the phone is somehow in the mix.
I would not think it has anything to do with it at all, unless your using the same frequency on you mth z4001 that talks to the transformer from the remote? have you tried turning of the wifi on your phone!
The remote uses the same frequency as the Z4001 remote control, otherwise the Z4001 remote control would not respond to the DCS remote, and it does. 
Thanks Gun. I will have to try and create the no cell phone zone. I am also working to integrate the TMCC system. Please see my recent post concerning a suggestion that I work in 2 TMCC base units into one layout.
