Just got back from a  business trip to Switzerland and has a chance to ride their train and trams. Could not get a picture of the trains.

Their commuter line going from the airport to central Zurich is great, on time and CLEAN.

The Trams are also nice and networked to get to the city center, business district from most of the suburbs. They share the streets with the cars and people and I believe they have the right of way. Nice city and nice people.

Here is a photo of the #2 tram

I usually make one or two trips to Geneva a year.  Outstanding tram system that includes buses, metre gauge trolleys and trolley buses.  In some places there are overhead wires for trolley buses and a trams along the same street.

At one small station a couple of miles from the Cornavin station, you can catch 20+ short to long haul passenger trains at speed between 4 and 5 pm.  That's one every THREE minutes!  During the day and at night, there are some cute little freights.  The downtown Cornavin station is also the end point for a French TVG line to Paris.

Three weeks ago I was in Melbourne, AU.  The tram system there was the best I've seen anywhere.  A massive network.  No ticket needed in the city centre.  Equipment from classic to ultra-modern.  From single cars to large multi-car units.  Some classic equipment give great tourist tours around the main loop.  At night, they have some of the older cars rigged up as dinner cars.

Yes great concept. It took NYC until recently to install the air train to JFK and sometime in the future they will wise up and do the same LaGuardia

Took the trains up to Grindelwald some 20 years ago. Hope to get back and enjoy the Swiss rail again some day.
