I have 3 ZW's. Output voltage from 2 of them is 19 volts. The last one is 17 volts. They are all plugged into the same power source. Output of the ZW's is measured at the terminals and remains constant unloaded or lightly loaded at about 1 amp.

Any idea of what causes the difference? Anyone have a schematic?

The one that puts out 17 volts is the one that needs 19 volts. I prefer to repair the 17 volt transformer rather than swap transformers to get the 19 volts where needed.

Not sure how you can alter the output voltage. Its determined by the turns ratio. The only variable I am aware of is the resistance of the roller assembly. Some rollers are pure carbon, the better ones are a carbon copper mix identifiable by the copper tinge. Also check the how far the roller can move on the windings. Some have to be adjusted to traverse the full range. See if the handle or roller bracket is being restricted somehow.

Another place to look is high resistance through the various current paths in the transformer.  A high resistance joint at any of the indicated spots can drop a surprising amount of voltage, especially if there is any significant current flowing.  High resistance at more than one of them could accumulate the voltage drop and easily account for several volts.

I had a KW that was dropping almost a volt at the hub connection of the handle, a little Deoxit-D5 on the contacts there and all was well.
