The A & B handles are loose in & out. How do I tighten them?

I think they press on. Have you tried just pushing them in toward the middle of the unit? Is there slop in the gears inside? If they had the plastic brackets, they can break and cause looseness too.

The plastic brackets that hold the potentiometers are not broken
pushing in the handle moves the most inward gear in & out as well. I tried pressing the gear on the shaft with no luck. A thought just hit me. I wonder if there is a set screw on the gear???
there is a tiny hole in the center of the handle. does this access any thing?
