Hi fellows. Got a little question? Dose any one know how to tell what years a ZW was made. I have one with the little medallion on top and a oval Train Master plate on the back. I'm thinking this an older unit?

That does sound like one of the older ones. This site provides some ID info...
zw dating?
I never dated a ZW when I was single. I preferred petite dark haired Italian brunettes, but later married a Scottish lady. I liked her shape a lot better than the boxy ZW.

Unless you're the original owner or inheritant, I think all that will tell you is when the case was made. The case may have been a replacement, as might have the medallion. I think you have to go by what the core looks like and the lamp voltage to get a better guess at the date of manufacture.
Dale H - thank you. I was late seeing the thread. Indeed, as we do discuss the concept of "compatibility" a lot on this Forum, social life of transformers seems an appropriate subject.
Is there an R on the bottom? Is it 250W or 275W, Those two items will help. The R signifies the early sixties I believe.
