The EDTCA deserves much praise for consistently putting on such a great event twice a year!

Dear EDTCA York Committee,

 

Thank you for lifting the ban on cell phone usage. I am aware of several dealers and individuals who were very happy because they were able to conclude sales due to the use of cell phones. Also, I did not see any disruptions in traffic flow in the halls because of their use.

 

Thank you again and please make this a permanent change.

My sincere thanks to The TCA Eastern Division for another fun-filled and productive York Meet.  It's worth the five hour drive just to be at York for an always-too-brief time and to meet up with all the great folks in this hobby, including the many manufacturers and dealers who support the hobby.

 

There is no other toy train meet on the planet quite like it in terms of size, quality, and the wonderful opportunity for face-to-face interaction with thousands of like-minded enthusiasts.

 

Thanks to all of your hard-working volunteers for making it possible!

This meet is so good, I'm still here!  A couple of hot dogs and I'm off to do more shopping!!

Thank you to the EDTCA for the wonderful show. Definitely a highlight of my year. Thank you also for allowing cell phones in the halls. While I really didn't use mine (much), I did encounter a table where the seller's friend was minding the table. Because of cell phones, we were able to call the owner to answer questions I had about the item.

Thanks for another great time at York and thanks for the opportunity to lighten my wallet.

 

I guess if I had one thing to compian about it woud be the inabiity of the EDTCA to move the halls closer together.  By the time I had to climb the grandstand stairs for the OGR forum I was bushed.

 

 

 

 

York is always a good time...rain or shine!!!  Sometimes I think that's the only time some people have an opportunity to shower.  And they even seem to avoid that.

It takes a very special group of volunteers to conduct a meet of that magnitude, year after year, that gives so much enjoyment to so many toy train enthusiasts.

 

We had a great time as well.  Although we could only go for one day, it was a good long day.  One of my two boys was so exhausted from the fun that he didn't make it out of the parking lot before he fell asleep.  The other one actually admitted for the first time ever I think that he was tired.  Thank you to the many volunteers who make the show work.  

I had the most relaxing couple of days I've had in a very long time. 

 

Might that because Chris wasn't there?

Have to agree good time spent with a many friends can't thank the EDTCA enough for their time in putting this event on twice a year.

Thanks to the EDTCA for another great show!!

To all the EDTCA folk:

 

- Thank you for another impressive organizational effort resulting in yet another fabulous York.

 

- Thank you to all of the volinteers on duty at the doors who always seemed to nave both a smile and an hello.

 

- Thank you to a good number of members  with tables that I met for the first time while buying from them.  They were all friendly and helpful and helped make the "negotiation" fun.  In fact I can think of 3 of them who must be re-incarnated from Vaudville.  Great fun.

 

-Thanks to the extra helpful folks at Korber Models for helping make my walk thru the halls so much easier physically simply,by lightening the load in my wallet.   

 

- Thanks to all the members who although were now allowed to use cell phones, did so in really small numbers while not interfering with others ( at least that was my observation over 2 days).

 

But I must say I am not too happy with EDTCA decision to make all the halls wider and longer.  I've suspected they have been doing this over the last few years.  I know this to be true because each year I find it harder and harder to make it halls each of the halls.  My wife suggested to me that the halls were indeed the same sizes and that my problem getting thru them had less to do with bigger halls and more to do with me getting closer to 70 than to 60.  I am sure she is wrong on that.

 

-thanks to the folks with the modular layouts.  Especially to the folks at the one layout who generously entertained my questions for 15 minutes while I picked their brains with how-to questions.  This was the group who had the kitbash of 3 MTH banks into Grand Central Station.  Very nice people.

 

Lastly, thanks to my wife of 45 years who every couple of years helps pack up and make the drive with me from Atlanta..  And for her eagle eye in spotting great finds that I just walk by and most of all,  for her smile and enthusiasm the whole trip.

Yes, Ed, as the years pass those halls do seem to get wider and longer, don't they?  

 

But I'm afraid it has more to do with our physical body construction than it does with any reconstruction made to the facilities.  You'll have to admit, though, that it sure is fun trying to make it through all the halls. 

A great time as usual.  Thanks Eastern Division Volunteers for another great York meet and Marty for starting the best York thread in recent history.

This visit (to me) was probably the most fun and relaxing visit I have had in years. The group of guys that go every year also commented the same. Purchases were made on a number of items and everyone were very pleased with the deals.

I want to thank EDTCA for a GREAT show. I know it takes a lot of work to prepare for a show like this and I am thankful for all. May GOD bless each and everyone one of you.

Let's not forget that the "EDTCA" is composed of some very special people that make the York Meet happen.  First to mind is the wonderful Debbie Geiser and her staff.

This morning I spoke with the York Meet Event Director, who is my neighbor. Upon asking him how he felt the meet went, he said he was pleased with the turnout increase from the previous April meet, that there were no major issues from relaxing the cell phone ban (a change that took 18 months of him lobbying the ED Board), and since the event went so smoothly he got to enjoy the event himself. All in all, Mike was very pleased, he looked tired but happy.

Is there any way you can get rid of the pan handlers in the rest rooms or is it a fair grounds requirement?

They are not panhandlers...not by any stretch of the imagination  They are hard-working and friendly folks retained to keep the restrooms clean, and they do a darn good job of it (as those who attend the meets in much earlier years will probably attest).  If you are unwilling to tip them, then don't leave a tip.  There's no requirement to do so, and it's certainly up to you if you don't mind leaving a bad impression.

I could only make it for Thursday this time, but I had a great time as always (and found what I was looking for). Who could ask for more? Thanks EDTCA. My only complaint is those hard floors.

I'm not going to York again till they carpet the floors.

We brought two charter bus loads of TCA members from Long Island and New Jersey and we all went home tired with a smile on our faces! Great job Eastern Division and we'll see you in October!!          Lenny J

Didn't you mean to say "cork roadbed" instead of carpet?

My only nag?  I wasn't going to attend this spring York. Turns out that my friday workload was very light, so I coulda taken off work, and gone up there and been there by 11am or noon.  !!!%%$$&^&&&!  See y'all at October York and at Fridays

        

The brown hall is sort of carpeted so we don't trip over whatever is underneath. Doesn't always 100% work though.

 

I've never seen so many grown men excited that we have ED!
