Very nice. Good work OGR crew and testers.
Took awhile for an old fart like me to get used to. Love the easy upload of photo's and video. The only thing I don't like is the narrow width of the column. I hope Rich can fix this in the future.

I was going to comment on the narrowness of the column, but many others have beat me to it. I have a *much* wider display.
I'm delighted that the Powers That Be listened to us, and put on the lighter background!

It's an adjustment for me to use, but I think it's gonna be great as time goes on. The question is "Will i sit at the computer longer instead of working on trains?" It could happen! Then I'll have a dusty layout and the wife will complain "Whatta 'ya keepin this thing UP for, 'ya never get off the computer!!!!"
"It's for the cat to play on! Do you want your dining room back?"
Decisions, decisions...
Looks a little like face book now
Well this is different. It will take getting use to. I'll check it out later on a desktop. Currently on the kids iPad.
Looks good and the overall speed improvement is great. Pages load VERY quickly.
Great job guys!
I'm going to let things settle down a bit. Everyone throwing stuff up all at once is a little like mud in a fan. First impression, organized chaos.
As for the site roll-out and implementation, good job OGR.
I like everything the only thing I dont
like is you cant see whos on line unless you
mouse over there picture I liked it with everyones
name showing. unless I'm doing something wrong
THANKS ALEX
The avatar only in the topic list is annoying. At least in the replies the name is listed next to the Avatar.
I often would go to certain member's posts first on the old forum. This format make it more difficult to find them.
First impression is I agree with VidKidz and LeavingTracks regarding the icons on the subject lines.
It's of course still early, and I have not looked into any settings that we may (or may not) have control over.
Noted that the site required me to input my email, not just my username to log in. Pretty sure all the emails indicated we'd still be using our username to log in?
Lot's of my profile stuff was apparently deficient enough the new software didn't like it until I updated some of it.
(edit:and it looks like I picked the wrong thing for one of them based on the image that showed up - guess I'll maybe fix that)

Hate would be too strong a word to use...so I will stick with dislike it. That's how anything unfamiliar is for some of us I suppose. I'll adapt, there is not choice but to do so.
Bob
Hey, the darn thing worked! I made it over to the other side!
I didn't read everyone's comments so if this is a dup, my apologies.
I find that the avatar images of most members are way blurry. I first noticed it on my own and then started noticing others. Some aren't bad but many, many have that blurry touch to them.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but I find the new layout much less efficient to navigate than the previous format. It requires a tremendous amount of scrolling, and there's far less information placed on each page. The buy-sell forum is a real pain. Can't find anything easily. The sellers' names aren't even listed, so it's impossible to go back and find something by seller's name. Overall, I find the new format very awkward and far more difficult to use, and gives a far less efficient presentation of information.
Haven't gone through it all but it's looking good. One gripe however, is that I cannot see who listed the thread by name until I open the thread. I always liked that feature since when I see a topic posted from Vulcan, SIRT or Moonson among a few others, I know it's something I want to read/comment on.

I like the new layout, I think the change is good.
Like many others', my avatar picture was much fuzzier than before. So I reloaded it on my profile page, and it's back to as-good-as-it-gets.
Bob A.
I just made a change in the setup so now ALL THE FORUMS will display when you click on the FORUM LIST link at the top of the page. This is more like what we had before.
That was a nice improvement Rich.
thanks - walt
It is going to takr a liitle whil;e to get used to

Thanks Bob!!!! I just reloaded mine and it seems "better" - if one chooses to use that word for my picture
In fact, I used as the raw image a way too big file and the software resized it for me.

I'm not feeling it right now...takes a long time for pages to load...really slows down my computer here at work...uploading photos was easy though
...I most certainly miss not being able to see all the different forums on one page.
Alan
Yes, that is one aspect of this forum platform that is different from the old forum, and I cannot change it. It is not something I have control over in my Admin Console. I also liked the main page displaying all the forums. We'll just have to get used to a different way of navigation.
After a few weeks, this will become intuitive..I hope!
This seems to be presented in the manner desired if you just click on the word "Forums" in the Header Bar instead of picking something from the drop down list.
edit: Oops. Looks like I noted it after Rich changed it.....

Hmm, for some reason inside the individual topics the text boxes iniatially fill in, but then become blank once they finish filling in. The entire discussion becomes blank.
The main forum pages display correctly.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the way this style of forum layout presents information to the viewer. I tend to prefer designs where the viewer can see LOTS of stuff, then chooses what they'd like to read more detailed info on. This doesn't appear to be one of those designs. So right now, the jury is still out while we all adjust to the new layout here. Gut instinct tells me this is gonna take some "getting used to", since I feel like I'm not seeing as much info as we saw in the former forum layout... and what we do see here seems squeezed into a very narrow viewing column.
David
I hope this grows on me because so far...not so much.
Well I made it to the other side fine. I only am moderate computer wise so it will take some getting use to. This is the only Forum I am on and I don't Facebook or Twitter so that shows you what I think of this Forum. The basic thing I miss is the location being right there all the time.
What I like so far - the larger font and easier reading format
What I dont like:
Not readily seeing the creators name of a thread.
Wasted space with the narrow message width. For any thread with more than 3 or 4 replies, nothing but just wasted space to the right of the message.

Very good. I like it. Mark
I have to say I am not impressed by the new forum.
There is much less information on each page... Less posts per page so it is more difficult to scan the topics for something I want to read.
The larger font and format feel like it is meant for either a child or someone who needs reading glasses.
A lot of wasted page space. Actually pretty poor web designing...
There is no need for the profile photos on each topic.
All in all this means I will spend a LOT less time on this forum.
Seems fine to me
I'm totally amazed, it even makes Jim Policastro look younger!
Awesome job.......very very nice.
Will have to get use to navigting around.
The biggest diaappointment was the number of steps to upload photos from my computer. Was expecting a Browse feature which does not pop up with the icon.
Have not tried videos from you tube yet.
I like everything except having to drill down into the Forum Categories as much as you have to. I think that once you go to Forums, you should see the main list like we used to, not just the four main categories and then have to drill down deeper then that.
Ohh yeah, and Signatures at the end of individual members posts, not just in the thread starter.
Other then this I think everything is great so far.
..Gromet
why was it changed? Site is too busy now.
