Doesn't appear to be since we're all here today (aside from Rich).
Just tell Ed you need to step out for a second, then everyone goes to the the engine while Ed answers the phones
Hey, everyday at OGR is a holiday.
Doesn't appear to be since we're all here today (aside from Rich).
while the cat's away...........just don't be in the front of the crowd...
Just saw it, about 15 minutes ago here in Massillon! Never seen it before. Amazing! She was hauling #$% up the hill to Canton. Alot of people in town came out to watch it. We closed up the O gauge club early just to see it.
Chris
I'm an hour away when it gets to Conway. and I'm working midnights this week. maybe....
here is a live short video 765 posted around 30 minutes ago.

Here she is passing under the old PRR signal bridge at the east end of the yard in Canton, OH. Had to leave work 5 minutes early and barely caught her, hence the offending weeds and a poor job of leveling the tripod. Rich was in the right hand seat and was haulin' the mail! I'm just happy I got to see her (at least) once this year - that makes 4 years in a row!
For those that saw her and enjoyed the show, don't forget to help keep her hot!
When I saw a black locomotive raising dust on the track to the right beyond the signal bridge, I thought Forumites had persuaded Rich to give good ol' Eliot a second chance.
I was relieved to see 765 roar by some distance removed from that track. . . .
just got back from Conway. talk about an awsome sight, sound and smell! There is nothing finer (contrary to what the guy in Christine said) than the smell of a coal fired steam locomotive!
Thanks to NS,Fort Wayne, and any and all that put the smile on my face!

Rich was seen performing with Willie Nelson today. Rumors go that Rich told Willie that he could not sing worth a darn! Willie offered Rich a million dollars to sing aboard the 765. The latest was that Rich was begrudgingly preparing the 765 for that great event, hence his absence!

Man I love that Pennsy 3 chime on her. I can't wait to hear that whistle echo off the Allegheny's on the Horseshoe Curve!
Well if Rich was with Willie today, just hope he takes Toby Kieth's advice to heart
All those Gons... is that the Coal too?
At least one had coal in it. I could not see if there was coal in the other gondolas. The last one had a loader of some type to load the coal.
So 765 is sitting in Conway now. The schedule doesn't show her doing anything for 3 days -- will she just be sitting parked in Conway for the next few days? Any idea if she is visible from any public land? I'd like to take my little ones to see her if possible since we are only about 30 mins away.
Thx

maybe that was a test to see if it could be done. the person posting on Twitter posted it and I asked when it was taken and they said just a few minutes before.
I thought it was pretty cool to get live video.

Now THAT'S Funny! Good ol' Willie...my favorite singer.

Yes...coal and the machine to load it. Two of the gons are now empty and will be released at Conway.

Unfortunately 765 will be stored in an area where you won't be able to see it from any public vantage point. It is essentially in the middle of the yard, on the river side of the humps on 1408 track.

and if only she had a Keystone and the headlight was on the high side.....
Thanks!
Is there any particular reason of burying the parked engine?
Here the UP sometimes stages the 844 directly under the I-30 and leaves the stack sticking out. The nose knows
Is there any particular reason of burying the parked engine?
Yes, there are several good reasons for putting it where it is. There is a fire hydrant nearby next to the car shop, we are out of the way of the regular yard work, there is a road next to the track for the service vehicles (septic, potable water and diesel fuel for the power car) and we have an adjacent free track for the coal...little things like that.
It's not a conspiracy to hide it from railfans.

haha you got that right Dave!
Not to go off topic but who knows maybe we will see that soon!
I wondered where in the yard the train would be spotted. 1408 in front of the car shop is a good place, almost like a passenger station in some respect. Decent walking space and all.
Plus, it's pretty cool to see 765 when you are pulling into the 600 yard, as I did tonight on train 746. Any chance we can keep her around a little longer after this weekend Rich?
