Hello all,
I have some lionel mpc 072 switches that won't work. I remove d the motor assembly from the track section and would like to know how to check them out. They will light up but I cannot get the motors to actuate. Please advise how to check them out and what are possible problems and possible repairs.

YOU say you have the motors out!! First I would do is connect a clip to the center post of the machcine and the other clip to either of the two outside posts, next I would install the fixed voltage plug and connect one clip to the end of the plug and use the other clip to touch the two outside post of the switch machine. And let us know what you get....

Check the contacts on the switch motors, that's by far the most common issue if they don't switch properly.

I should have said that I can get most of my MPC switches to work in one direction but not the other. The direction that won't work I also cannot get the anti derailment feature to work. Please advise where the contacts are on the switch motor itself so I can clean them. If you would be so kind please contact me at 734-453-1809 or send me your phone number and I will contact you.
