I suspect that this is just a graphic sample and will be corrected for production?

One of the things people like about Menards, is that they don't advertise a product until it is available for purchase. So I strongly suspect this is not a production sample, but the actual production run. A quick check on the Menards website, shows the dealer pack for this same car, and every car pictured has the logo lettering upside down.

Lionel gets bashed quite a bit for things of this same sort, but as this illustrates, it's not just Lionel that has this type of problem. And I'm not knocking Chinese production either, but I can see how this sort of thing can happen when your workforce doesn't speak English. There certainly are other production variables to be considered.

I would guess this is part of the reasoning as to why Scott Mann and Jason Shron (of Rapido) spend so much time overseas themselves. Rapido also has their own dedicated factory, which many others don't.

While language is a barrier, it is not as significant as one might think.  This can happen anywhere in the world as most of the production work force are not train people, don't know that it's supposed to look like, and mistakes happen in what is a niche production market.

You are correct that Scott does spend a significant amount of his time in China for QA / QC purposes.  Even then mistakes get through production.  I know of several errors on the work I've done for Scott over the last 10 years; some my mistakes and some factory mistakes.  Some have been obvious while most are not and I'm not telling what they are.

Menards makes a good product for the market they are in for a very fair price.   I'm sure they will sell well anyway to someone looking for something a little different.  My GGD pre-production Congo coach spelled "Pennsyylvania" is one of my favorite parts of my collection!

You do realize that those dealer pack images are made up of a picture of a single car that’s been copied to make it look like four cars?   They don’t actually line up four separate cars for each dealer pack picture.
