Menards is awesome!!!! please please please make more of these.  It would be great to have a "heritage" line of 40s-60s vehicles in addition to the modern vehicles.  Police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, tow trucks, all sorts of vehicles with auxiliary lights in addition to the cars with standard headlights/taillights.  The lighted vehicle aspect of the hobby is sorely lacking for product and I am very excited about the possible new products.  One request- please keep the vehicles make/model distinctly American and not some generic Chinese stuff.  Great opening move with the Mustangs and Ford pickups

is it me? the mustangs except the black one are the ones in Sally's Mustang Restoration Shop. So if you buy the 5 cars you could have the shop to if you bought the shop for the same money. I know they say in the shop only 2 lights work, the two 1967 shelby's. With that said I might be tempted to buy the 67's and 65 and replace them in the restoration garage. Of coarse the restoration garage would have to get a new name as couldn't have 65 & 67 mustangs in for restoration in the late 60's now could we. Maybe just Sally's Garage

Super idea.....I have said I would do this to autos on the layout. BUT....even the great vintage Mustang is 10 years to new.....but I'll be watching!!!

Exactly. Anyone modeling the steam era wouldn't find any of these vehicles useful for their layouts. I sincerely hope they'll offer something much further back in time than this.

I agree 100%.  Menards needs to start offering more steam era vehicles.

Terrific product.  I especially like the 1/48 scale.  Now, how about some older models, say 40s and 50s??  Great job, guys.

Dare I say it, how about even older than that? You can never go wrong with older cars being in a specific place, but you can't have cars that were made after the time frame, only during or before. And even though there are a lot of people interested in diesel era stuff or the latest things for Rolling Stock, there will always be a huge number of people in the hobby, especially into 3 rail, who are interested in the steam era.

And whatever era you do, please just make them the normal Vehicles. There are way too many high-end and rare car models out there as it is. I think most modellers would appreciate just your standard basic cars, from whatever era is being modeled. There are way too many sports cars out there for models as it is.

The model years for these autos and trucks are 1965 to the present. That is fine for my time period of Post-1970.

The management would have to find the existing molds for all of the 1930's to 1950's autos and trucks, then put lighting inside them when people assemble them in the factory.

Andrew

Well, if 1930s-50s molds could be found, Menards could make kits and we could assemble them..

Remember that Menard's also sells these cars in their stores in big bins meant to grab the eye of a child.   And kids are attracted to modern.  Many more of these cars are sold this way than to train people like us.  Could be one reason why Menard's only puts out modern cars.  That or the company they do business with only has molds for the newer cars.
