Hello all, I just changed my 12054 section to a 12020 section and powering separate from track voltage. I followed the lionel instructions to power it with fixed voltage like my 12054 was and it works fine don’t need the rails of a 12054 anyway i’m just wandering what I missed as lionel says do not wire this track to the accessory of a CW 80 so I run it on a second CW with no problem what did I miss that this arrangement can’t work on one CW ?

Seems inefficient and space-consuming to dedicate a CW-80 (and its main/track output) for the sole purpose of powering 12020 uncoupler section(s). In my opinion of course...
well, it seems that lionel believes the CW 80 can’t keep up with the required 12 to 14 volts the un coupler needs to work correctly but I have two of the CW 80 and they both run well on accessory to the 12020 so I took off the second CW 80
