Hundreds of lucky New York City commuters got a surprise trip back in time when eight 1930s-era subway cars were briefly returned to service offering woven wicker seats, ceiling fans and rusted metal exteriors.

It is a nice surprise. This is the same train set that runs from Queens Plaza to 2nd Ave in Manhattan on Sundays from Thanksgiving through Christmas . During the Grand Central Parade of trains they ran a three car set of R-12, R-15 and R-36 on the Grand Central to Times Square shuttle. It was a nice treat.
You did not feel too lucky in the late 70's on a hot summer day waiting for a brightly lit ,brand new,airconditioned' F' train to pull into the station and then one of these 30's relics pulled into the station.
That might have been true but today it's a trip back in time at no extra charge. There were lots of smiles on that vintage shuttle train during the Grand Cental Parade of Trains.
