I have a Erie 3338, 2-8-4 and a Pennsylvania 2356, 2-8-4. Both are Lionel. the Penny will pull and run all over the layout, The Erie will pull the same amount of cars the Penny will but it can not make a trip around the layout with out falling of the track somewhere, it is always the rear drive wheels that slip of the track. The rear drivers are also the ones with the rubber tires on them When I look at the rear wheels it looks like the wheel flange or rim is not as tall as the front wheel. The Penny does not look like that. When I bought them they looked new in there boxes. Any ideas?
