Mike, thanks for the updates. Good that Lionel placed the train number boards at each side of the stack, but the engine really needs the marker lights on the sides of the smoke box and a Pyle National visor headlight, too. Please see the comment and photo I sent to Lionel a week ago about this.
Looking at the Forum Buy/Sell, almost everything there seems to sell for substantial losses. ...
The irony behind that phenomenon is Lionel seems to have no problem whatsoever getting orders for newer, higher-priced items. I would have LOVED to purchase two S-2 switchers and run them back-to-back... but setting my wallet back nearly $1K for that luxury was not in the cards. True... there's definitely an intangible enjoyment factor that comes with purchasing a product that's brand-spanking-new. But I wonder how many of those S-2's are gonna sell on this forum for $500+ down the road?

Thinking that with the revised tender , If Lionel moved the bell to the top of the Boiler front, added a shield to the headlight and added steps from the walways to the pilot, the end result would be pretty evocative of the southern 630. Check out the photos, Lionels revised catalog illustration and a pair of 630 photos.
what do you think Mr Reagan ? can we do it?
