Probably no where near me, but it would be handy to have a location, city, state, address?

I will second this motion, and also a "Link for this event"

I agree with RTR12. I'm in Sioux City, IA. Closest O scale store I have in Caboose Stop Hobbies, Cedar Falls, IA. 240 miles. Keep thinking about a day trip. Great store!

I feel bad for you that you don't have a local train store. Is Lincoln, NE any closer to you? Grand Central LTD is located there. I have never been there, but the owner is a friend of my brother-in-law's (he lives in Lincoln). I got re-started in the hobby with some really great deals from them. I am going to have to stop in there one of these days and see their store.

We actually have a pretty good train store here in the KC area, but was fairly small. However, they have just moved to a larger store and are supposed to re-open this Sat. I think. They have quite a bit of O gauge, but I don't think it's anything like some of the stores back East? They may have a bit more now, with the larger store? Anyway, I am pretty excited about seeing their new store upon re-opening. It really is nice to have a train store to visit in person and I try to support them by purchasing most of my train items there.

As for the trains shows around here, they are really nothing to speak of, mostly all smaller scale stuff. I do believe the folks you mentioned from Cedar Falls, IA have been at a show or two here though?? Their name certainly sounds familiar. If it was them, they were about the only O gauge dealer at the shows that had any really nice things as I recall.

What is this thing you call "a local train store".........

Sadly, I believe it would now be called a dying breed these days. Or possibly even a thing of the past? Although ours is probably not nearly anything like the larger ones in the East, I am very happy to have it here and that's why I try to make all my purchases there. I really enjoy going there almost weekly, even if it's only to look around. Seeing trains in person is a lot more exciting than looking at them using "the Google on the internets".
