You crack me up Paul!

Very nice scene, Bob, even if it’s not “fancy”. And I love the LIRR Atlantic on the Polar Express (but based on LIRR standards, the passengers may not arrive until Easter
Now, if you play your cards right, when you take down the tree, point out how much better the view of the track is without the tree and you may have a permanent O-36 carpet central

Paul- the only thing that would be permanent about me putting trains in the living room would be my place 6' under.......

Merry Christmas gents!

Bob

Merry Christmas everyone. This year my theme was trains from my childhood, late 50s and early 60s. The Lionel Rio Grande consist is the one that I received for my first Christmas in 1958 from Santa.  This set has been a part of Christmas ever since. Sixty six years later it is still running strong. The red and green Standard gauge No 8 and cars I painted a few years ago.

Lionel in England. 3rd year setting up my Lionel in our village hall in a small village outside of London. It's a Nickel Plate Christmas with my new 755 Berkshire and new GP9 custom run from MrMuffins Trains to match with my 779 Berkshire from about 10 years ago. Only time I have the opportunity to set up the trains and enjoy as English homes don't have basements or attics!! Still running my father's original GG1 from early 50s. Merry Christmas!

@Steve Tyler, just how tall is that "Very basic" tree?  That's an unbelievable setting for your tree great windows.

Well, the tree (pre-lit (with dead lights!) and artificial) is about nine feet tall, but it sits on top of a round table, so the star is at about 12 feet. In years past (about 35 years past!), each year we went to a nearby tree farm to cut our own live tree (usually 12-14 feet -- easy to find on the lot, since such trees had outgrown the desired 6-8 foot range -- and only cost $7-10!) and bring it home on top of the minivan we had at the time. I built my first post-childhood layout in two pieces to fit around the bottom of such trees-of-the-year.

I literally just got this up within the last hour.  It's been that kind of year, but my family can finally breathe a sigh of relief and remember it's Christmas.  Winter in Scottsdale, Arizona is a questionable proposition at best with a high of 78 today.  However, they are talking some snow in the higher elevations of the state tomorrow so maybe some in the part of the world will get a white Christmas.

In the interest of what was out and easy to get to, this mixed consist of a 390# pulling a 517 caboose with a 312 observation trailing is doing Christmas duties this year.

Are all of the trains and track on that layout yours?  If so where do you store it all with no attic or basement?  Vdery nice layout by the way!

Got a couple scale inches of snow on the basement layout tonight, just enough to throw a panic into the passengers looking to board the last express out of Lionelville:

Christmas Eve 2025

No worries, though; they should be home a little before Midnight this Christmas Eve. Might even get a glimpse of Red One passing through.

It comes and goes so fast. As Tom McComas would say, "Merry Christmas everyone...Merry Christmas!"

Joe, all of the track and accessories are mine. Sadly all in boxes up ladder to my attic for 11 months of the year. I break down the 5 4x8’ tables and put the timber in the attics and the plywood in my one car garage. Worth every penny of the effort to see all the kids, young and old enjoy trains for Christmas. My 3rd yea and it’s becoming a village transition. Still haven’t used all my track so planning some additions for next year!

Not only track and trains but tables also!  You and your layout are genuine village icons.  Keep up the good work

I shared with you a few photos of my Holiday layout but was having trouble with the video. So, here it is now, just a short one. Some of your layouts make me envious. I have a bit more space here than in my previous home but still not as much space as I would like. I would love to have that lighted Christmas consist but running my brother's trains from 1947-1954 with his station, bridge, and beacon tower is pretty cool.

That looks great. It must have a big WOW factor upon entering the room.
