Xmas tree sales at "Djer's" car lot are the focal point of my holiday decorating on the layout...there are many beautiful "all-in" Christmas layouts posted here.  Once I figure out how to deal with the "snow" effect and the removal of it, I'll move forward next year...

Djer 17 Tree

Ask Patrick, @trumpettrain, what he used and how he cleaned it up for his article in the magazine.  Photos in the article looked great and his winter scene wasn't permanent.  I've been meaning to ask him if he's still using the extra photos for winter scenes he's posting this year.

Here is my brother and I's 2024 Holiday video card! Enjoy!

Incredible job on the layout and video card by both of you.  The blending of LEGO and ceramic buildings was excellent.  At first I wondered why you didn't use traditional Christmas music but once I listened to the words of the song it fit perfectly.

Who put down trolley track on the hearth before putting down the snow? Me!

Who put down three loops under the tree before placing the tree skirt? Me again!

My absent-mindedness/hurriedness aside, I wound up with

3 trees

7 loops

2 trolley lines

2 sore knees

Merry Christmas, y'all!

Thank you for sharing the video of your great Christmas train displays and, to embellish your summation...

I am finalizing what I have been calling "a village module" utilizing a hybrid of Danish and Swiss village/city styles that I've been working on since May...and I thought for sure I'd be done by end of summer which obviously didn't happen. I used Atlas O track (my first time with this product) for the train tunnel (O-45 limited). Buildings and accessories are a combination of Dept 56 and Lemax. My long-term goal is to connect this module with other to-be-built corner living room modules by removeable O-gauge bridges and have a trolley or other slower moving train navigate around the room during the holidays. A key criterion is not to overload the living room area (thus the vertical construction) and as such limit the modules to corners or other least used spaces. Another criterion was to try to blend this module into the fireplace surround though I missed the mark on the stain color; I spent about 8 hours trying to get the Poplar fascia the right color and showcase its beautiful grain. My wife complained all summer because I had quite a mess in the living room...and it's finally getting cleared out

I'll post more pictures when I finish the wiring.

Neat Michael.

Did you do the restomods yourself? Great job!

I find restoring or customizing trains in need very relaxing and rewarding. I am currently working on passenger cars customized to match my PostWar Texas Special F3's.

Yes I completely tore it down cleaned, polished, rewire and installed a electronic reverse unit. I have a trains sound card that I’m installing in the original 261t. Just been to busy lately but I’m sure I’ll have plenty of time this winter to perform the operation and will be ready for next Christmas. Thanks for the compliment and happy holidays to you and yours.

Now, I know I’m a real iconoclast here, but I really don’t like the Polar Express (Mea Culpa!!!). That being said, a couple of years ago, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to put up a Christmas tree since I was helping my brother after surgery, so I figured I’d just set up a small train display on the dining room table, so I picked up a LionChief 1225 engine from a set breakup. I didn’t get to use it that year, but I finally broke it out for this year’s Christmas train. The engine is quite hefty and runs pretty well. My one complaint is that, even at max, the sound is very low.

So here’s to a Merry Christmas🎄, Happy Holidays 🕎, and a happy, healthy, and train filled New Year 🎉 to all my fellow forumites!!!

A few of the posters here gave me the idea of sharing a video.  This one is my 2023 Christmas layout.  It's kinda long: 2 minutes 43 seconds so I wouldn't blame anyone for not watching all of it
