Would like to know if there is a source for one to buy trucks with no lobster claws attached for 3 rail And if so where ? Trying to convert Menards Rolling stock. Purchased 18 tank cars and 6 of them have serious wheel drag. So I thought I would make the attempt to convert to kadee's. Also I might add 4 trucks on separate cars the claws do not work.

I always preferred the Weaver 3-Rail freight trucks, without couplers. Pretty sure both Atlas and MTH offered 3-Rail freight trucks without couplers. At any rate, removing the "lobster claw" couplers from ANY freight truck, was not a big deal for me.
@rattler21 posted:I have Atlas, Weaver and K-Line trucks in stock. Weaver trucks' couplers are a separate piece,The Atlas and K-Line trucks have couplers which are held in place by one Phillips head screw and easilly removable. If interested, contact me off list. john
Atlas 66030?
A pair of Weaver trucks, now made by MTH, will set you back the cost of the car. I would suggest just cutting the couplers off.

Agree with Norton (Pete) above. Buy the car, remove the trucks and resell the car w/o trucks for $25 shipped on this site.
Guys I would remove the couplers on the existing cars BUT the wheels rub on the frame they are plastic. Trucks alone would not solve the wheel drag problem. So if I fix it would mean new trucks.

Thanks I will check it out. Just trying to salvage the purchase ii made at Menards.
Bill, can you put a washer or two between the truck bolster and the frame to eliminate the rubbing?

I tried to pry the plastic back enough but failed to get enough room for washer also afraid of snapping plastic. It's just frustrating I like the tank cars . Just to bad they put plastic trucks on these gold collectors cars. I guess for the price one can not complain. You get what you pay for .thanks for your help. Also I am surprised kadee does not offer replacement trucks for o scale.

Maybe because Kadee makes most of their $ from HO scale items...? 🙂
