It amazes me on them lack of consideration of some who frequent them OGR Forum. Blatant disregard for the rules, as well as general lack of courtesy. In my opinion, it only makes sense to define 2 rl or 3 rl.

This is one reason the recent disappearances of the Natty-boh and the Scenery Sourcelist were mistakenly zapped. And the cry from forumites was deafening!

PLEASE try to help by removing unnecessary posts and rude comments. Rich Melvin should not have to "clean-up" after us. Restoration of some posts is very costly to OGR, and since this forum is free to us, Lets all try to do our part.   JMHO, Dave G.

That's what I was thinking. I don't mean to be a pain on this but I check this board several times a day looking for trains. Just trying to make it easier on all of us.

Thanks Paul.

I agree with Chuck. While it's true that a percentage of the threads are obviously 3 rail not all are like that.

My take is: There are a lot less 2 railers out there than 3 railers.  Try to get the word out to anyone selling a 2 rail item to put either "2 Rail" or "2R" in the title. Then anything that doesn't have this designation can be assumed to be 3 rail.

I would agree with this post, as the vast majority of for sale items are 3R and not 2R.

For what its worth, this is also the common approach that I see on eBay as well.

Jim

While I am in 3 rail, I find a lot of stuff in 2 rail, and in 2 rail shows, that I can use, so

I have no bias against either.  Even on eBay, I have had to occasionally ask the seller, who may not be in trains and knowledgable...."Is that 2-rail or 3-rail?"  Obviously, it is to the seller's advantage to list that, and as much information about his offering as possible.  Assumptions are often wrong.

Yes I am selling:

Lionel 2373 Canadian Pacific Set 2296W Mint and Unrun.

Grandfather had it in his attic in an old cedar box and it's $17,000 firm.

Thought about putting it on eBay but it keeps gaining value...

Thanks!

Truly a rare opportunity.

I'm a 2-rail guy David but I knew when we found this it was a treasure. I probably shouldn't post it on here but felt some pressure as this is a For Sale Forum. Even at $17,000 I would be hesitant. The set is stored at my brothers house I'll get with him about some pics just so you can see how pristine the boxes are.

My original point was to help out fellow model railroaders by clarifying in the title if it's 2-rail or 3-rail. Guys like me and others I'm sure check this site at least a few times a day.

Thanks!

Or........you can always "follow" this board.  Then when something new is posted you will receive an email showing the title and subject of the post. How easy is it?  I mean really? I'm just trying to explain that it's easy to see the post and subject if you just explore a little bit. I don't understand what all the fuss is about. I've never once thought about writing and complaining that the post didn't have 2 or 3 rail in the subject line.  I just can't believe this is a subject on here.

Are you a 3-rail modeler by chance?

If I modeled 3-rail yes it would probably be a non-issue. Didn't mean for this thread to get so popular.

You haven't stated if it's 2 or 3 rail per your own admonitions.

While we're at it I think people should also post that an item is O gauge or not.

This really is a non-issue, the overwhelming majority of items for sale are O gauge 3 rail if you have something different to sell most folks just say, "2Rail" or "S gauge" or whatever in your post.

I might ignorant about Lionel but whenever I see that name I know it's 3-rail?

If not then yes absolutely I should put it down as 3-rail and I stand corrected.

Even this afternoon on my smart phone I had to click just to see if a couple of posts were 2-rail. This might sound silly but it would simply be easier to see it in the title. Downloading pictures and such when you don't even need to see it takes valuable download time.

Thanks.
