I recently purchased a 312 with SIT. When it arrived, I put it on the track, no movement. Took off the tender housing and again put it on the track. The SIT moved for about 2 seconds and then nothing. Took engine apart, lubed & oiled and sprayed contact cleaner on both engine motor and tender SIT motor. Reassembled and put back on track, engine runs fine and E unit works but the tender motor for the smoke will not work. Does anyone have suggestions what could be wrong. ps: the bellow looks good with no damage.

Also check to make sure that the brush springs on the tender motor are making contact with the brushes.  I have four smoke in tender engines and you have to check and clean every contact point to ensure reliable operation.  Do not assume that the switch lever is making contact.  I had one make contact but due to gunk no electricity made it through. All contacts must be spotless.
