Even though I don't use the function much, the "talk" on my SAL E7 is garbled so much I can't understand a single word that is spoken.

Is there a fix for this, as in a new sound module or maybe a variable resistor on the board?

If a new sound upload, how do I do that?

I'd at least like to hear the engineer say "Goin to beans dispatcher" or Scott Mann telling me a 5-car Silver Meteor is next on the list

Thanks guys!

At idle - AUX1 + 2 = garbled

At idle - AUX1 + 5 = garbled, engine shuts down, normal

At idle - AUX1 + 7 = "You are clear for departure", very clear speech!

Moving - AUX1 + 2 = garbled

Moving - AUX1 + 5 = garbled, then engine sounds cut out.  Have to stop/restart the engine to get them back

Moving - AUX1 + 7 = "You are clear for departure", again, very clear speech.

It's not a big deal, just was wondering if there was an easy/cheap fix.

Pete,  I'll just pretend they're speaking a foreign language or something and let it go at that.

I meant to add that I'm running under DCS and these are all the speech clips I get on the E7.  I have a Legacy GP9 that has the fuel filling speech sequence when the engine is stopped and I hold down the 0 button for a couple of seconds.  Not sure if the GP9 is RS4 or RS5, but it's only maybe 2 years old.

If it plays the fuel filling sequence, it's a Legacy Locomotive with Legacy Railsounds. The RS4 and RS5 boards mostly pre-date Legacy locomotives.

LOL George!  I was figuring South Norfolk, but you may be right

Rudy, thanks for that info.

Id rather have the garbled crew talk than some of the ridiculous stuff they say anyway lol

LOS, WHAT?!?!?!  You don't like the dog barking sound .  That's on at least 1 of my PS2 engines.  They must have run out of things to say at that point

Gotta agree there.  RS4 garbled crew-talk sounded MUCH more realistic.  RS5 "intelligible" crew-talk has some of the corniest dialogue sequences -- not to mention some of the voices still sound like a person's first day on the job.  Like somebody stuck a microphone and railroad script in front of my accountant or doctor and said, "Here... read this.".    Lots of the voices lack the presence and character you'd expect from folks working a long railroad career.  Who makes these choices?
