Shelter In Place for Bay Area Residence until April 7th: How it affects 3rd Rail / GGD / ERR

I've sent our employees home until April 7th, including our Secretary and Repair Staff.  We actually don't have any models to repair right now, which is a very good thing. I monitor all emails or faxes sent to us, so that won't change. So if you have any questions or concerns, just email me. ERR has enough packaged kits to ship small orders until April 7th, after which our ERR kit assembler will return. We can still process your pre-payments, accept your reservations and advise any technical issues. We all hope that this Shelter In Place order causes the COVID-19 to die out. I would imagine that this will be adopted by all populated areas in the US over the coming weeks. It's the right thing to do. Keep well. Don't hesitate to email me with your questions or comments and while your at home, enjoy your hobby.

Our 2 Factories and their many sub contractors in China and Korea are not shut down:  They are working hard to deliver the F3s (MAY), NP NCL (JUNE) and D&RGW L-105s (July).

The Design Team is working on many of the other projects too (GP7s and 9s, SF Super Chief, Battleship Gondola, Krauss Maffei, C&O Hudson and more still. We are not experiencing serious supply chain issues as production is centralized. Good quality takes time, so Schedule is #2, Quality is #1. Thank you all for your concerns and patronage. Keep the reservations and ideas coming. We will all get through this.

A word of Encouragement and Perspective:  The County / Province of Shandong, where our Chinese factories are, has 95 Million people. Only 761 have tested positive and only 7 died during the Epidemic. They limited the exposure of their people by Sheltering in Place from late January to mid February, about 3 weeks. And now in Shandong, Restaurants are Open, people are back to work, Traffic is Jammed as it was before, and there haven't been any new cases in over 10 days.

We can do this too.

Think about this: If 761 infected people was only 10% of the actual infected individuals in Shandong, that's still only 0.01% of the population that got infected. Chances are, none of us will have to deal with this, if we act.

Stay Well,

Sincerely,

Scott Mann - Sunset Models - Golden Gate Depot - ERR

Scott...

Your "A Word of Encouragement and Perspective" was more optimistic and informative than our ubiquitous media provided this AM!  Thanks so much!

And.....have a happy St. Patrick's Day, Mr. O'Mann!!

We WILL get through this....

Now, if they'll just re-stock that one aisle at the supermarket!!

Thanks, Scott, for the very informative and useful update. It's truly great that with so much going on, you are willing to take the time to keep your customers and all of us up to date on developments with your products and, at this point in time, with an insider's perspective into what is happening in the world of overseas production. Thanks again, and take care, my friend!

A little optimistic news.  Public health measures in action very likely.  Exactly what didn't happen in Italy, unfortunately.  Connecticut, New York and New Jersey have pretty much put these measures in place, as has the San Francisco Bay Area counties,  so we'll see how this experiment works out in the USA.

Thanks, Scott.  Once again you're leading the pack when it comes to keeping us informed of production schedules.

To keep busy today, I will bring humble little Train 95, with its GGD passenger cars, into Caprock, put the A-B 3rd Rail Alcos in the passenger spur, couple the 3rd Rail A-B-B rednose F7's onto the train, and get 'er highballing across the rolling plains of west Texas.
