Does anyone know if the stock headlight and marker lights on a 3rd rail Water buffalo (N&W 4-8-2) will work with the PS2 outputs? The lights up front are connected to a little board with 470uF cap on it and a little 4 prong thing with DF06 on it.

Probably not without some extra components or alterations. It sounds like they're LED's and they have a bridge rectifier, cap, and I'll bet a resistor to run from track power. If I'm right, you might get away with just changing the resistor, the PS/2 board puts out 6 volts on the lighting outputs for headlight and reverse light.
I reconnected the board to the locomotive , it is connected to track power. there are 3 sets of pins, all reading 6V DC , for some reason the markers are not coming on, but the headlight is. I think I'll just continue to run from track power.
Then there is also a vr on the board that regulates the DC output to 6V. SO yes those bulbs and LEDs will work with the PS-2 outputs.
Polarity matters for the LEDs, on some of those boards one connector is meant for the marker and is usually identified as such. May have resistors near it to limit the current. Maybe the Markers are not plugged into the correct connection. G
I turned the plug around and the LED's worked. IT is connected to the circuit with the resistor on it- thanks to all for your help!!!!
