I have a new 400e proto 3 that will not move. Sounds work but no lights or movement. If pushed in either direction the drivers move. signal strength reads 8,9 10. The Engines Battery shows low via the remote. The remote batteries are full. Before sending back another one for warranty is their something simple to check without voiding warranty? All other engines work.

Does this engine have a wireless drawbar tether?
If so, the symptoms that you see are often caused by the drawbar connector under the tender simply not being firmly inserted in the tenders connector.
Their is no wire between the engine and tender. I will check that out. Thank you. FYI the other engine had the problem you stated in one of my prior posts. Good work and thank you.
Mike,
It's not a wire, rather, the drawbar itself contains the circuit for the tether.
The 400E's do not have any kind of tether. All the electronics are in the locomotive.
In that case, I'd look for a break in the wire path between the PS3 board and the motor.
Without lights or movement but sounds in a diesel board set up sounds a little weird. Have you tried a factory reset in DCS and also conventional? It can be locked out. You need to do both. G
A 400E is a Standard gauge steam locomotive. All electronics are in the engine.
Right so it should use the single board, not a Tender boiler board. Though I have not seen a PS-3 version. But one issue with motion is a lock out that requires a conventional and DCS reset. G

PS-3 has no battery. Check everything the guys told you. After trying everything, do a conventional reset like George pointed out. Look at the drawbar on the locomotive end and reseat the plug that goes into the drawbar on the engine end.

No drawbar connector as mentioned previously Marty.
I have this engine sitting here waiting on the drive gear, but it's taking MTH forever to ship it!
Correct John. I should remember where everything is in that monster.
I'll forgive you if you have a spare drive gear!
Never heard of a conventional reset but I will look on the remote software for that term.
Thanks

Need to do this with no DCS signal, so you need a transformer with bell/whistle button. G
