One of my MTH 44 Tonners has started giving sound issues. (20-20883-1) It ran well for a while, and everything worked as advertised, including last Saturday at Allentown. Sunday I put it on the track, and no sounds! Not a peep! The only way I found out is was not dead was to wait a minute after pressing the startup button, then moving the thumb wheel. And it moved! Reversed, too. But no sounds. I did 3 factory resets with no improvement, then put it away for the day. Tonight I got it out again, along with my 9-1-1 SD60. The SD60 ran perfectly, so I know the layout and TIU are functional. Took the 9-1-1 off the track, and put the 44 Tonner on. Same problem. Performed another factory reset. This time, the sounds came back... sort of. The starting sequence worked for about half way through, then went silent. Tried the startup again, same thing. Tried another factory reset, but no change.
Anything else I can try? If not, then a trip to Hennings is in the offing.
