Since the 611 is now being restored is VMT planning on getting their water tender back from FWRHS or do they plan on finding a new one? If VMT does get theirs back what will the 765 do for a water tender? Also what is VMT reporting mark for their tool car as I saw a picture somewhere of it being prepped for use?

At one time, I had heard the FWRHS had a lease on the N&W water tank for 7 years, but they do have their own water tank in New Haven that the 765 used to always travel with.  At one time, there was work being done on getting that one roadworthy again.

Have also heard rumors that the N&W one will go back with 611 when the restoration is done.

Truthfully, the way NS seems to try not to piggyback operations, if one wanted to go to the trouble, you could probably alternate the tank between the 765 and 611 operating dates with a little bit of careful planning.

Not sure about the tool car.  I was under the impression that they would just use the N&W-painted one that has been with 630 for the past couple of years.

Finding a new one? Just where do you think they would find one...Home Depot? Tractor Supply?

The A-tank we have leased from VMT will go back to them this winter. We have to do brake, truck and wheel work on our A-tank in order to put it back in service. We'll do that work over this winter maintenance season.

When the 765 hits the road in 2015, she'll have her own A-tank, which is a former L&N "Big Emma" Berkshire tender.

So now you tell me.  The nice lady at Home Depot said special ordering one wouldn't be a problem, although there was some concern over shipping charges.  Back to square one, I guess...
