I'm running 3 #630 illuminated cabooses on my layout, and all 3 have inside lights that flicker instead of a solid beam.
Is this because the lights flicker when passing from one piece of track to another? Is there a way to get them stay on
without the flicker? I'm curious because my passenger cars don't do this.

make sure the wheels and track, especially the old Flyer track, are kept clean to enhance conductivity. you may notice deposits accumulate on the metal wheels that conduct the electricity. Some of the 630's have silver colored metal wheels which tend to pit from the sparking and pick up deposits from the track. brass colored wheels do not seem to pick up the gunk as fast. they can be cleaned with a rag and track cleaning fluid or better yet, a Dremel with the wire wheel attachment.

I picked up two 630's that had some rust on the trucks, initially there was no light. After cleaning them up they flickered, and after running them for a while they improved.
If anyone asks, just tell them the crew uses kerosene lamps..
