Based on Tiffany's thread, I have become interested in fitting a 691ISND101/2 in a freight car or tender to add sounds to my PW locomotives. However, instead of 2 AC in pins and 2 speaker pins, I find a heck of a lot more connection pins...

Also, what speaker specifications do I need to meet (such as impedance and such)?

Don't know the specs on the board, but you may want to pass the AC power from the track pick ups through a rectifier to DC first. Might also want a voltage regulator. I doubt the board can handle a wide variable voltage.

As far as the speakers, again you'd have to check the specs. Match the Ohms of the output to determine what speakers to use.

Jark, that's why I'm looking for the diagram/specs to figure out what it is I need...

Lionel (the supplier) has several boards in the ISND series, that have different sounds. Used mostly in the conventional classics series. These are horn/whistle and bell sounds. No chug or diesel motor sounds. These are stand alone boards.  The large square 2 pin socket in the lower right hands corner is for power input. ( Do not use a rectifier )The top 3 pin connector is for the speaker (only the 2 outside pins are used). The small 6 pin connector is for the volume pot, only 3 pins used. A on/off switch is also wired to this connector. Uses a standard 8 ohm speaker. 

For such a small board, it puts out a decent sound level.

Any details on the 3 pins for the potentiometer and its range or which lines have the SPST switch?

I, too, was inspired to buy a couple of these boards this past weekend @50% off to add some sound to MPC-era diesels.  As I read through this thread to get the wiring scheme, it seems by your comment that the three-pin connector is the sound pot (since a six-pin connector doesn't have a middle pin) - while Chuck's note seems to imply that is used for the speaker + on/off.  Is that accurate?

Also, are there standard P/Ns for the harnesses?  They aren't listed on the parts breakdown I found for the associated F-3 on Lionel's web site.  Is there a "master list" of modern Lionel harnesses somewhere?  I saw this thread of yours which gives info on the power connector - so down to just the three- and six-wire ones.

As a side note: it appears that the speaker specified is 0.2W at 8 ohms.

I scoured the website and with my boards, ordered the following harnesses and such. I have not received them yet (or even a tracking number) so I don't know if I did right or not...

As stated above, the 3 pin connector is for the speaker, using the outside pins (middle is ignored). It isn't clear to me which pins on the 6 pin connector line up with the 3 pins on the POT and which connection is interrupted with the on/off switch. I think it would be easy enough to experiment with once I actually have received my parts.

If someone does know what the 6 pin connector type is or part number, that would be appreciated.
