Crane has 2 motors. The up and down function works fine. The right- left motor spins but the gears do not move. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

They have rubber belts, if I remember correctly, from motor shaft on.
They can often break or have stretched to the point where they slip.
I have purchased replacement parts for mine and it has been working well for quite sometime now.
Thanks, but there are no belts visible, just gears.
Going from memory here.......you should be able to notice the 2 motors and attached to them are 2 black or grey plastic "boxes". A few screws hold the plastic boxes to the underside.
Within these boxes are the pulley wheel and belt. The belt resembles a large traction tire.
What is the product # of your item?
The box says 6-2316. The instruction sheet has the number 70 2316 250 on the top. It is a 1983 Fundimensions. I see the two boxes. I will see if I can disassemble the one that is not working.
There are 2 tabs opposite end of the motor on either side just behind the two "circles with the holes".
Use a pair of pliers to squeeze these 2 tabs towards one another. This will free this end and get you in.
Once you get in the gearbox there's a good chance the grease 'lube' is now stiffer than stale peanut butter. Scrape that stuff out and replace with Lucas Red and Tacky. Replace the drive belt if there is one. It probably got hot and stretched out.
Thanks guys! I was able to disassemble it. I cleaned it up and noticed that the belt was a bit loose. Took a chance and reassembled it. It is now working!! I would like to buy a new belt. Any suggestions?
Great!
The fine folks at ........... denvertrains@aol.com should be able to supply what you need.
Keep in mind what John said in his post above about cleaning and re-greasing.
Cheers
Early versions of that gearbox used a belt: 600-2315-309. (I think this is the version that you have.)
Later versions used an O-Ring: 610-2700-206.
You should verify which version you have before requesting the parts. As pointed-out above, Chuck at denvertrains@aol.com should be able to help.
