Dies anybody know what the difference is between the 1937 700E and 700EW?

I said my first reply wrong....I think, and don’t hold me to this, 700EW encompasses the train set, where 700E is just the locomotive....

I looked at the 1937 catalog. On page 4 it shows the 700EW as the engine only and comes with a wooden display with track & brass name plate. On page 23 is the Hudson set with both 700E & 4 passenger cars is model # 709W ( No wooden display or track).

Be careful with the 1937 run of the 700e Hudsons, they are the worst for zinc casting issues with the boiler/cab casting. The later runs were more stable casting wise. There is an excellent online video on how to measure one of these before you buy and without having to take it apart, to see if the boiler casting is "growing" which is the result of zinc pest. AD
