I bought the 72 watt LionChief Plus transformer. Lionel Number 6-81803. I thought it would give my AF Nickle Plate engine more power and help it smoke better. I plug it into the terminal track and nothing happens. No red light comes on the powers track. Is this transformer made only for three rail Lionel engines?? I thought it would work on flyer engines. Any help would be appreciated. Ed P.

I don't know about that power pack. I use my 30B Gilbert transformer with 300 watts and 18 volts and I get plenty of smoke from the Nickle Plate Berk. Try your Berk with a regular AC transformer and compare with the DC 72 watt power pack. It could be your locomotive that is the problem.
