I'am not getting any sound from the tender. I don't know what the sound should be.

There's no such thing as an 8050-1 tender, at least from Lionel. (And I'm guessing it's Lionel, but you didn't say for sure.)
If you're referring to an 8050-T tender, then you'll need to be a lot more specific. That tender shell has been used in production for almost 50 years. It's contained sound systems for Sound of Steam, RailSounds, SignalSounds, TrainSounds, air whistles, and others.
Photos with the shell off will get you the best information.

Sorry, no idea what is meant by "EZ."
Regardless of what the shell says, it's the tender's contents that will tell what the sound system should sound like.

If there's a circuit board inside, gently pry it up and replace any disintegrated foam with double-sided tape. If you short the board to the metal tender frame, you might ruin it permanently.
try reversing the leads going to your transformer. something to do with polarity
