Are the 4 screws on the bottom of the base the only ones i need to remove to open this unit?

I found the seam to get this open after screw removal. The post is solid to the board. My tmcc base works fine with the layout. Engines come up quiet and run fine.
No base not found errors on Legacy remote. Remote and base are on same channel and version (1.7). Lights on Legacy base all come on. Base light shows activity when buttons are pressed.
Tmcc base will not work when hooked up to Legacy base, but works fine when U connection is direct to track common.
Checked ground on the outlets, all show proper wiring.
Anything else that I might have missed?
It's interesting how you got the base to 1.7 software, that doesn't exist! The latest software for the base is 1.60, and for the CAB2 it's 1.72.
Here's a simple signal strength test you can use to compare the signal from your TMCC base and the Legacy base. This is done with nothing connected to the command base except as shown in the diagram.
The Legacy base should show a stronger signal than the TMCC base. If not, there's likely a problem with the Legacy base.

Ooops! Both units are 1.6. Thanks for this!! I got 1.7 with tmcc and zero with the legacy base.
Well, zero with the Legacy base says it all. Time to call Lionel while they're still fixing these for free!
