Just started this one. I like the oddball cabs and this one fits the bill.

I guess that one started out with a cupola and then was converted to bay window.
That would look really good in Penn Central green Awesome work, as usual!

Is this started with Evergreen sheets or a casting? Do you use rivet decals, strips, punches? I need to spend a week with you just watching your skills!!!
Thanks,
Ken
Thanks everyone! The sub-lettering on the cabin I’m building is PC.
Ken, this was a MTH RR club caboose. I’ve stripped16 of them so far to use as conversions. I’m trying to increase the price for those who collect them ;>.
Is this the one? MTH 20-91018 Sante Fe
That’s it!
My Penn Central caboose book just arrived and one of these cabs is on the back cover!!!
VGN64, Check page 27 in your book and you'll see the Santa Fe cabeese in the background along with the ex Southern bay windows that await Penn Central modification. The ex Santa Fe cabs were designated N5K and the ex Southerns were N5H. Both were pretty rare on PC and Conrail. I remember seeing them just a couple of times and I worked around cabooses a lot. I guess PC figured it was cheaper to purchase other railroads cast-offs rather than build new transfer cabooses, plus they were in a hurry to rid the system of the old ex NYC 19000 series wood side cars. I’ve decided to paint this one PC instead of CR. I’ve got a neat PC switcher under construction to pair it with, Rs-3 9950.
