Just thought I'd share this photo of my Under-the-Tree Christmas layout. In the foreground is a minty 1946 Lionel Outfit #1400W with a 221 Dreyfus styled Loco and 2400 series passenger cars. In the backround is a 1937 001 Lionel Scale Hudson pulling a 00 Gauge consist from the 1938-42.

Looks great. It's not every day that you see OO gauge trains in action.
My first trains back in the 1950s were Lionel 00, both 2 & 3 rail. I recall having plane and super detailed Lionel Hudsons, a GG1 of unknown make, Scalecraft Pullmans and others.
Ya gotta love that rugged Lionel toy version of the legendary Dreyfuss with its tinplate tender! ☺
Lionel OO was always fascinating though I never owned any. Once found a mint salesman suitcase set for a collector friend of mine who paid for it with Morgan silver dollars!
Funny - I have a small "collection" of 221's, which is odd as I am an O Hi-Railer, and, I have one Lionel 003 (2-rail, full detailing) 00 scale Hudson that I found a few years ago at a surprisingly good price, and in excellent condition visually. I have never run it. American 00 is fascinating; Scale Craft (I believe) also made 00. I have one of their cabooses. British 00 does not use proper 00 gauge track (theirs is H0 gauge, but 00 scale); US 00 had its own track gauge, and Lionel's came in both 2- and 3-rail format.
Good to see.
Yay! A vintage Christmas.
