Finally a nice roundhouse comes to my railroad! Not big but nice

Not quite done with it but I thought I would show a couple pictures. First I must say that after I received the kit I decided to add one more track on the side of the roundhouse. This required a narrowing of the front of the roundhouse and therefore the base is slightly larger than the roundhouse. Eventually I will cut the MDF base to exactly fit the narrower roundhouse as it should.  As it sits the round house MDF base is resting on the side of the rubber road bed causing it to look cockeyed.

My expectations were quite high on this kit because I built another kit of theirs which was very high quality. I was quite pleased with this kit from the git go.  It is a  very high quality as well. It’s custom cut for your turntable size, track and road bed. Mine matched the rail height perfectly. Thanks to the thick precisely cut resin, timber structure and masonite bracing it is also a very strong structure. No flimsy building here. It’s heavy and built on an MDF base to assure correct alignment etc..  The kit included such things as templates for your timber construction, masking for window painting, nice plastic window sills and caps for the roof line, real hinges for the doors and an instruction manual that leaves nothing to the imagination and a ton of pictures.  (wish I would have read it) Everything is labeled and bagged making for easy identification. My window sills are balsa because the window sill bag fell under my bench and I missed them. (read directions anyone?)   The resin was so precisely cut the edges are sharp, crisp, and clean. Mine required no sanding or fitting at all! Unfortunately I had some glue spill over and messed them up in one place.(need better lighting)

I honestly can’t find much fault with this kit except that the windows required a sanding to slip in easily and the hinges were a PITA to install! The trade off is that you have real hinges. Can't wait for warm weather to finish the project. At this rate maybe June!

I tried to show the giant exhaust collectors/vents on the inside but you can't see them in the picture. Very nice touch. More touch up and paint to do and a few other odds and ends like power to the tracks in the roundhouse. The other tracks are powered now and turntable is working. Not quite done but you get the general look. I took a few quick pictures. I hope you enjoy them!

Thank you everybody for the nice comments. Thing is I am not that good of a modeler.  The kit was just that well made. It turned out good enough for my standards. I see from that one photo I need to re-glue one roof panel, clean up some mortar material and I also see some roof powder accumulated under the windows. Unfortunately, when I moved it some of the roof powder fell off. A duh moment. I need to get some more! Its funny in the light of my shop and train room it looked good. Now I see it in the photo I feel a little embarrassed.  Alan, I can't get any more angles because I have walls and an overhead heating duct 2 feet from the roundhouse. My table top is close to 5 feet on the upper level. I like viewing my trains from a kids point of view.

The base is custom cut for your turntable size and if you want any extensions desired. You give him the turn table diameter and length of the space where your turntable sits and he will give you a computerized drawing with all pertinent dimensions. You also must give him your track and roadbed info to match rail heights.  Mine was 60" from the center of my turntable to the end of the round house. My turn table is 33".  The resin part is 26.25" and the extensions are 5.5". I have 11.75" to the turntable.  The width is 25.25" at the back.  Hope this helps.

I needed the dimensions to compare to a Korber house.  The Korber 304 is a bit larger and all the flooring layout is done from scratch not part of the kit. Is the floor part of the kit???   Interesting.  My TT is 27" with about 9" to the house.  Very comparable products.   Nice to see your success with the assembly. Looks great

Thanks for posting

The floor comes with the kit.  I replaced my Korber with this kit.
