What specific engine? The UP 2-8-4 8002, the chuff switch is on the tender truck., The Pennsy turbine (#5) has a 5 pin connector and has a circuit board that the SOS would be disconnected at the locomotive. Number 1 the Santa Fe 4-6-4, 8900  had no whistle at all, just sound of steam. The Great Northern 4-8-4, (#3) and Southern 2-8-2 (#4) had different style boards, like the PRR turbine. Basically each FARR engine has a different set up.
