Had a short on my layout this morning. Z-1000 kept tripping off. Isolated ALL of the cars running the track. Problem turned out to be the LAST thing I checked, of course. A stationary crane car had its wheels turned akimbo. In my testing to find the problem the breaker on the Z-1000 tripped several times. How many times will this safety feature work without eventually harming the transformer? Thank you all.

That is kind of what I was hoping... Mucho thanks!
Hi Michael,
I pretty sure the breaker can trip for many years. I have my Z4000's for I think 6 or 7 years and the breakers have tripped many many times. I had a problem just and few days ago and the breaker tripped instantly. I would say the breaker will last the life time of the transformer.

I tripped mine about a dozen time in ten minutes trying to find the problem. Finally I realized my Milk train that was carring 2 GGD coaches only had 1 coach. Found the culprit in the staging area room where the last coach had come uncoupled and derailed. Those Z1000 are real nice transformers. I power my layout with 3 and looking to add a 4th.
