Hi,

Little thing, but I need help, here's the issue:

I put the new in box engine (2004 model) on track, the only one, not other engines.

I start the CW-80

The engine sound and smoke unit works immediately.

I start my precious DCS remote

I try 10 times to add this engine without success.

I try read button without success.

I try the track signal and it's ok.

So, I'm gonna change the engine battery tomorrow morning, I didn't do that but if you have any other ideas or questions, you're welcome for sure!

Thanx!

Just want to be clear about something you posted.

You put the engine on the track, add power and you said start the train, then the remote.

Does the train power up on its own once you add power or are you doing it conventionally? PS2 DCS trains shouldn't power up on their own unless you do the startup on the remote. All you should hear is a click from the relay on the board, and thats for a spit second.

Let me add to that:

Assuming that you have the power from the supply going into fixed input 1 of the TIU, then fixed out 1 to your track.  Do not go through the variable input.

When applying power, if the train starts immediately, it sounds like the TIU when sending it's search signal upon powering up is not seeing the PS2 train nor getting a reply from it.

Make sure the track area where the train isn't dirty or weak connections.  Its best to first try it on a 3 foot test section, so we can eliminate any track issue.

Also battery shouldn't make a difference at this point whether dead or not, it only makes the difference once you change settings, ID and such to save to the ps2 board. But to add the unit, battery isn't required.

Check your connections and try that first.

The engine sound and smoke unit works immediately.

It sounds like you have the wires reversed between the TIU channel output and the tracks. The red terminal on the TIU must go to the center rail and the black terminal on the TIU to an outside rail.

Otherwise, the engine will come up in conventional mode, with lights and sounds, and DCS will be unable to fid it.
