Adding details to the MTH Union Pacific C30-7:

The C30-7 is a 6-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by GE Transportation Systems between 1976 and 1986 as an updated U30C with a 16-cylinder 3,000 horsepower (2,200 kW) FDL-series diesel engine. 1,137 were built for North American railroads. The UP had 140 units with road numbers 2415-2539 and 2960-2974.

Here is my MTH Union Pacific C30-7 with road number 2472. This is an early MTH Premier model (20-2017-1).

Although this version from MTH lacks the fine details of more recent releases there are some improvements which can be made.

1. I will be adding non-skid Plastruct Diamond Plate plastic sheet material to the side walkways.  These will be painted a metalic silver color.

2. I will be adding LED marker lamps after I drill out the holes in the MTH body.

3. I will modify the headlights by adding directional LEDs.

I had done LED marker lights to a couple of my older models. At the time I acquired some information from TAS, (Train America Studio), that allowed the Drive boards to power bi-polar LED's.  When the unit reverses directions, the LED's change color (green/red).
