Can a second incadescent bulb be soldered to the original single bulb wire with no ill results to the boards ? If there is a problem with polarity can the connector position be counted on for correct polarity by matching it with the original connector ?

No problem driving two 6v grain of wheat bulbs from a PS2 3v board. Polarity is not important.
