Adding whistle to lionel thomas

I would like to add a whistle to the first conventional o scale lionel thomas 6-8719. I know the 8741 has an electronic whistle built in. But, it also has a different pcb (eunit) and whistle driver board. Can i use this whistle board with the older board in the 8741? Thanks ls

Sure, most whistle boards for conventional operation connect directly to track power, they don't connect to the reverse board at all. The biggest issue is fitting the speaker and board in.
