I believe a 2235w with the long draw bar that came with the 2226w  will attach to it. If I have time, I'll see if mine will. I have both the 2226w and 2235t. I was fortunate enough to get the 2226w from a fellow forum member at a reasonable price. May try the want to buy forum and ask if someone has a tender. The drawbars can be purchased reasonable thru Trainz.

thanks Donnie for the info....please see if your tender will fit....thanks for the offer.....joe

Ok. I tested the 2235, and as long as you use the 2226w drawbar it will work. Personally, I'd probably drill a hole in it and make it closer to the loco. Trainz does sell the drawbars if you type in 226t-5. Here's some pics and a video of the 226e pulling the 2235. Now, for my time and effort I'm going to ask that you post some pics of that fine 226e you aquired. Definitely my favorite loco of all the pre and postwar Lionel PXL_20220722_002703192PXL_20220722_002656369Screenshot_20220721-201908
