I'm sure this problem has come up very often, but I figure it's always best to ask for help when you need it.

I have an MTH ProtoSound 2.0 Pennsylvania Aerotrain from 2001. The engine has recently been stuck in neutral and it's really losing my patience. The engine starts up when the power comes on, and the sound turn on, but when you hit the direction button the engine doesn't cycle to forward. Instead, it does the same start up sequence again and stays in neutral.

Note that I HAVE put it in an MTH battery charger for more than 12 hours, and the sounds are less garbled, but ironically this problem got WORSE after charging it.

I am not an expert on PS-2 but I think the PS-2 battery is either a 5 volt or a 3 volt battery. PS-1 uses the 9 volt battery look-a-like 8.4 volt MTH battery.

Have you tried charging the battery while installed in the engine with an MTH wall charger for around 24 hours? That should fully charge your PS-2 battery. Track charging is too risky for long periods of time(my opinion).
