I would expect that they would work just fine since there are no guard rails on the switches.  I believe that the close clearance on the switches with guard rails is usually the issue with compatibility among different manufacturers.

 

I too like AF switches.  I only wish that they could be easily converted to a external power source instead of track power only.

Dave is right, the Flyer switches work fine with the big-geared prewar Marx.  I was going to use them for that reason, but couldn't find enough in good condition.  I ended up using the Lionel 1121, which is the other switch, along with the Marx of course, that will allow any of the early tinplate locomotives over them without hanging up.

There is an advantage electrically,  though, with the Marx switches(metal or plastic) in that they are not powered by the track in any fashion.  This makes for options like external power and non-derailing much more feasible compared to the Flyer switches.  Look for the Marx wide-radius too, coming in at O-27(34).
