I've heard that Alexanders Diner is closed. I heard this from a very reliable source. Is there anyone from the York area that knows what happened? Lenny J

Well, this would be gnu news to me.......although I'm from Meeeeshigan.
Last I knew, Alexanders had changed ownership. That was a couple years, or so, ago. Until that took place, their serving hours had become sparse.
But they seemed to be doing quite well last April. They even had an outdoor area set up for barbecuing, as I recall.
If another closure is confirmed by local resident(s), that will, indeed, be very sad. A meal at Alexander's has been somewhat of a tradition for wife & me as part of the York experience.
Their current website .... Alexander's Link ....seems to confirm my last experience.
Yo!.....Yorkers!..........anything to share????

This is from last evening. The Legacy Users Group used Alexander's. Right now our plans are up in the air.
I'm in York. Two of my office staff that drive by there regularly saw a sign indicating it is closed and for sale.

Looks like it. Listed on 5/2016 and updated 9/27/2016
Description
This is very good opportunity to be your own boss. We have a fully operational restaurant for sale with real estate. This restaurant has been established in the community for over 30 years. The owner has made several upgrades to the property and installed an outdoor patio last year. The site is very well situated near the York Fair grounds, West York High School, and several national, regional, and local retailers. The restaurant sits on Carlisle Road (Route 74) with a large parking area and multiple points of access, also less then a half mile from Route 30 and near Interstate 83. Owner looking to retire from the business.
Located in West Manchester Township, York County, PA

That's a bummer....sad to see them go.

Will Allen talked to a lady from York chamber of commerce and she stated that 2 weeks ago they closed without notice. They are actively looking for a buyer but as of now I would expect anything planned there for York is most likely not going to happen. Just FYI.
Thanks for the update Marty.......Greg
Marty, I bet Lyndon Diner could accommodate you.
Marty, let's try to make it happen. I can check Sheraton Four Points if that would be helpful.
Alexander's in the news this Summer and not in a good way.

Wow, an eye opener for sure. Thank God for those planning to attend that Alexanders won't be accommodating the group.
Looks like the OGR crew will be going somewhere else for breakfast.
Yuck.
Don't be cheap. Take them to the Wyndham for breakfast.
Too bad! Alexander's was a great place for a post meet dinner. Deserts were terrific.
When Alexander's changed ownership a few years back, you could tell the change. Prices went up a little and portion sizes were slightly smaller. It was not the same as previous. We always ate at Alexander's for many Yorks until we tried another place.
We tried the place up the road on Carlisle Avenue which used to be the McDonald's and has much better food, portions, service than Alexander's. Well worth the change. The food is that much better here.
Ted ... what's the name of the place on Carlisle?
To Whom It May Concern:
I feel bad for the TCA Members who utilize the Busses from Long Island (Starting Point) to TCA Meet on Friday. They always stopped at Alexander's for Breakfast before heading over to the Fairgrounds. I hope that whoever makes the travel plans knows about this and makes the appropriate change to another place for breakfast.
Back in the day when I did not book a motel room, I (YES - I DID) take the bus from Long island twice and the food at Alexander's was sufficient for me to make it to dinner. Now, I hope wherever the busses stop the food is as good as it was for me all those years ago.
I ate there once, and was underwhelmed...no shortage of restaurants in the area, although not that close to the fairgrounds.
There is a Bob Evans very near the fairgrounds. It's my choice (and yes, I've been to the Lyndon and Round the Clock.
