I have one of these and it is a super smooth runner but it is 4 wheel pick up. I want to convert to 8 wheel pickup but not sure how to mount the wheel wipers.
Anyone done that to a AN loco? I could use some pointers.
Thank you

I never liked small scale wipers. I don't even like 3r axle wipers.
I do like plungers of Rivarossi O. Like a short rivet, just back it. (or in a plastic tube assembly like Kusans. )
A homespun ball bearing tip, spring, hollow rivet seems doable.
Actually, like tiny dowel hole mounted, ball tip, cabinet door stays... click!
Maybe not easy on the eyes or your install, but I like the performance and durability so far (four years?)
Malcolm, the trucks are A-N but the drive isn't. This is how I installed wipers. If I ever get back to the storage unit I will see if I still have the jig for drilling the bolsters. Need to get the data on your belts too. I have to go out Sat. to pick up a large order of castings. I'll try to go then.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Jay, is that one of your custom drive units?
Malcolm, yes. Very early. An experiment using a Pittman 6000 Series gear head motor. It ran really well but the Pittman 6000s were/are noisy. I did this back in 2012. Might still have the parts in a box...somewhere.

My powered NW-2 had sintered iron wheels. The only cure for that was track sliders. They are unobtrusive.
these are all nation trucks with Rod Miller wipers added. a small aluminum block with a tapped hole was epoxy glued to the bolster. then a nylon tube is added as a spacer followed by the wiper held on by nylon screws.
Thank you, I have a game plan now.
Malcolm,
I found the drilling jig and wiper mounts. Is it worth posting photos?

Most definitely!!! Thank you
Malcolm,
Not very good photos for providing the necessary info. Hopefully, you get the idea. Wiper mounts haven't been cleaned up though. They have been drilled but not tapped. Would require cleanup of the edges, and such. For those concerned, this is not a post about sales. Just an FYI.

Thank you Jay, I will make the jig this afternoon.
